Summary

The U.S. Navy jewish worship pennant is flown aboard ships during Jewish worship services aboard ship, under the same rules as the church pennant. This and the church pennant are the only flags authorized to be flown above the national ensign. The pennant can also be used onshore, although not above the national ensign. This pennant was authorized by the Secretary of the Navy in December 1975. It depicts the emblem of the Jewish chaplaincy, the Ten Commandments tablets of Moses surmounted by the Magen David. The symbols on the tablets are the first ten Hebrew letters (also used for Hebrew numbers 1-10).
