Summary
U.S. Army armored vehicles leave Samarra after conducting an assault during Operation Baton Rouge in Samarra, Iraq, on Oct. 1, 2004. Soldiers of the 1st Battalion, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division conducted the assault and then surrounded Samarra sealing it off to keep anti-coalition forces from entering or leaving the town.
