Summary

This map of the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth" class="extiw" title="en:Earth">Earth</a> shows surface temperature trends between 1950 and 2014. The key to this map is <a href="//commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Key_to_world_map_showing_surface_temperature_trends_between_1950_and_2014.png" title="File:Key to world map showing surface temperature trends between 1950 and 2014.png">here</a>.

The map shows that most areas of the Earth have warmed, with warming particularly strong in <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polar_regions_of_Earth" class="extiw" title="en:Polar regions of Earth">polar regions</a>. A few areas have experienced cooling. There has on average been more warming over land than <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ocean" class="extiw" title="en:ocean">oceans</a>.

Changes in global mean temperature may also be given relative to a base period of 1951 to 1980. This method shows that temperature anomalies (5-year mean) in the years 1950 and 2012 were -0.09 and 0.61 <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C2%B0C" class="extiw" title="en:°C">°C</a>, respectively.
