Firdous Colony

Firdous Colony (Urdu: فردوس کالونی ‎) is a neighbourhood of Liaquatabad Town in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan.[1]

After the independence of Pakistan in 1947, Firdous Colony was formed by a Muslim refugee from Bihar, who made a cooperative society with the help of friends. He purchased land from the Government of Pakistan in 1948, and the land was sold at a rate of Rs3.50 per square yard.[2]

There are several ethnic groups in Firdous Colony including Muhajirs, Punjabis, Sindhis, Kashmiris, Seraikis, Pakhtuns, Balochs, Memons, Bohras, Ismailis, etc. Over 99% of the population is Muslim. The population of Gulberg Town is estimated to be nearly one million.
