Overview
Franchise(s): Open-Access Operator
Main route(s): Harrogate - London
Parent company: FirstGroup/Renaissance Trains

First Harrogate Trains[1] was a proposed Open Access Operator with ambitions to run passenger services between Harrogate and London King's Cross.

First Harrogate Trains was a proposal from FirstGroup and Renaissance Trains, who are the owners of Hull Trains, as well as several other current and former train operating companies.

The application to run trains was denied by the Office of Rail Regulation in a preliminary report released in January 2009,[2] and in a final decision in February 2009.[3]

Had it been successful, it was intended that services would have commenced in the summer of 2009.

Rolling stock

The preferred rolling stock to be used was Class 180 Adelante or Class 222 Pioneer trains,[4] the types used by Hull Trains currently and previously respectively.
