Florentin Petre (born 15 January 1976 in Bucharest) is a Romanian football manager and former player. His son Patrick Petre is also a footballer.

Career

Petre debuted in Divizia A with Dinamo București in 1994, scoring in his first match. Except for a spell in UTA Arad in the second half of that season, he has stayed with Dinamo since. He helped win The Double in 2000 before contracting hepatitis C. After being cured of hepatitis, he had an accident while fishing in the Danube Delta (he touched an electricity wire with his pole and almost lost his life) which put him on the sideline for almost two seasons. He returned to win the Romanian league in 2004 and the Cup in 2003 and 2004, as well as regaining his place in the national team. In April 2006 Petre signed a three-year contract with Bulgarian club CSKA Sofia. It came into effect on 1 July 2006.[1] However, in 2008, he was released from the club due to license problems and signed a contract with Terek Grozny. In 2008–09 season, Petre earned 15 appearances playing in the Russian Premier League, scored four goals. On 11 December 2009, he returned to CSKA Sofia and signed for 1,5 years with the club, but got released in the summer.
