Friedrich Eduard Matthias Carl (24 September 1916 – 5 December 2013)[1] was a Major in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Carl later served in the Bundeswehr of Federal Republic of Germany.
