Gerhard Scheibe (6 April 1917 – 22 January 1944) was a highly decorated Oberfeldwebel in the Luftwaffe during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Gerhard Scheibe was killed on 22 January 1944 along with night fighter ace Hauptmann Manfred Meurer when their Heinkel He 219 A-0 collided with the Royal Air Force Lancaster bomber (piloted by Robert Butler) that they had just attacked and shot down. During his career he participated in 140 missions as a radio operator.
