Gracila albomarginata, the Masked Grouper, is a species of Groupers in the monotypic genus Gracila belonging to the Serranidae family. [1]
Description
Gracila albomarginata can reach a length of 40 centimetres (16 in). Body color is greenish or reddish brown to brownish grey, with several narrow curved transversal darker bars. On the caudal peduncle there is a dark brown spot. The head is crossed by 3-5 blue lines.[2]
Biology
These fishes feed mainly on fishes. They are solitary and quite uncommon.[2]
Distribution
Gracila albomarginata can be found in the Indo-Pacific, from northern Mozambique to French Polynesia and the northern Great Barrier Reef. It is not present in the Red Sea and Persian Gulf. [2]
Habitat
This species prefers outer reef slopes and channels adjacent to deep water, at depths between 6 and 120 meters.[2]
