Greenwich Village Story is a 1963 feature film written and directed by Jack O'Connell. The film involves an early sixties point of view of women's health, sexual rights, and the sexual revolution from a singularly male perspective. The protagonist is forced to make choices after getting pregnant out of wedlock. Filmed in Greenwich village and the Berkshires including a hysterical faux nude swimming scene filmed on Lake Garfield, Mass in which during the shoot surrounding fisherman edged closer and closer to the dock on which the scene takes place in hopes of getting a better view. In editing the sounds of motorboat engines threatened to take over the scene's audio and was replaced by prerecorded crickets. The end effect was to give the scene a sinister invasion-of-the-giant-insects vibe.
