Gustav Stühmer (8 April 1914 – 16 February 1944) was a highly decorated Oberfeldwbel der Reserves in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross and its higher grade Oak Leaves was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Gustav Stühmer was killed on 16 February 1944 near Narva, Estonia during the Battle of Narva when he used his body to shield his commanding officer Franz Griesbach from grenade splinters.
