Hans-Georg Herzog (10 September 1912 – 20 July 1959) was a highly decorated Oberstleutnant of the Reserves in the Wehrmacht during World War II who commanded the 5th Panzer Division. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross and its higher grade Oak Leaves was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Hans-Georg Herzog was captured by Soviet forces in 1945, near Danzig during the East Prussian Offensive. He was held as a POW until 1955.
