Awards Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross

Hermann Kreß (23 July 1895 – 11 August 1943) was a highly decorated Generalleutnant in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Hermann Kreß was shot in the head by a Soviet sniper on 11 August 1943 near Novorossiysk, Soviet Union, and died instantly.
