"Hold On" is a song recorded by American vocal group Wilson Phillips. It was released in February 1990 as the lead single from their album, Wilson Phillips. The song won the Billboard Music Award for Hot 100 Single of the Year for 1990. At the Grammy Awards of 1991, the song received a nomination for Song of the Year, losing to "From a Distance" by Julie Gold and performed by Bette Midler. Kids Incorporated covered "Hold On" in 1991 in the Season 7 episode "That's What Friends Are For".

Chart performance

"Hold On" became Wilson Phillips' first number one single, reaching the top spot of the Billboard Hot 100 on June 9, 1990 and, despite spending only one week at #1, was ranked the top song of the year by Billboard. (The second and final concurrence of this to date, and first since Stranger on the Shore by 'Mr.' Acker Bilk in 1961) The song also spent a week atop the adult contemporary chart that same year. In addition, "Hold On" peaked at number 6 on the UK Singles Chart.

Use in media

• The song "Eternal Wind" from the anime film Mobile Suit Gundam F91 uses some of its music.
• In the 2009 film Whip It, Razor arrives at Roller Derby tryouts with this song playing on his car's sound system.
• In 2012, the drag queens Willam Belli, Detox, and Vicky Vox released a parody version of the song called "Chow Down" that addressed the Chick-fil-A same-sex marriage controversy.
• The song was performed by the group during the finale of the 2011 film Bridesmaids.
• The song was used as hold music in a 2015 Progressive Insurance TV commercial featuring Carnie Wilson (as herself) and pitchwoman Flo.
• In the 2004 film Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle, the titular duo hear the song on a cassette tape after stealing a truck from some punks that were tormenting them and holding up a gas station's convenience store.
• The song was performed by Tina, Blaine, Sam and Artie along with the New York cast in Glee Season 5 episode "Trio"
