Indieflix, Inc is an independent film distribution and online streaming service based in Seattle, WA.[1] IndieFlix gives film lovers access to thousands of high quality independent shorts, features, documentaries, and web-series from film festivals around the world. It's available on Fire TV, Roku, Xbox, and all internet connected devices including smart phones, smart TVs, and tablets. IndieFlix’s mission is to champion filmmakers, launch careers, rethink traditional approaches to distribution, and celebrate the artistry and impact of independent film.[2][3]

History

Indieflix was founded in 2005 by filmmakers Scilla Andreen and Gian Carlo Scandiuzzi, but is run solely by CEO Scilla Andreen.[4] The company specializes in promoting independent film by providing online streaming platforms with filmmaker content. Indieflix offers an online streaming subscription for an annual price of $50 or $5 per month; additionally, library patrons may access to IndieFlix via their library, at no charge.[5] As of June 2014, Indieflix has over 8,000 titles that include features, shorts, and documentaries, and is available in over 85 countries.[6]

The company collaborates with filmmakers to discover efficient solutions for distribution, and provides potential access to worldwide platforms such as Amazon, Roku, and Xbox.[7]

Indieflix has created and implemented an artist payment model called the RPM (Royalty Pool Minutes). The RPM model pays filmmakers for every minute watched of their content.[8]

IndieFlix Distribution Lab

With the wish of expanding their reach and increasing revenue for filmmakers, IndieFlix created the Distribution Lab in 2013. This initiative enables the company to showcase movies that have made (or will make) an important impression on the world. IndieFlix works with schools and communities to schedule screenings of these powerful films in an effort to create awareness and inspire action. Some of the films released through the Distribution Lab include Living on One Dollar, Finding Kind, and The Empowerment Project.[9]
