Jacksonville is a town in Telfair County, Georgia, United States. The population was 140 at the 2010 census.

History

Jacksonville was the original county seat of Telfair County. In 1871, the seat was transferred from Jacksonville to McRae.

The world record bass was caught near Jacksonville, Georgia on June 2, 1932 by George Perry.

As of the census of 2000, there were 118 people, 49 households, and 32 families residing in the town. The population density was 105.7 people per square mile (40.7/km²). There were 62 housing units at an average density of 55.5 per square mile (21.4/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 62.71% White and 37.29% African American.

There were 49 households out of which 22.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.9% were married couples living together, 16.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.7% were non-families. 32.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 20.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.41 and the average family size was 2.97.

In the town the population was spread out with 22.9% under the age of 18, 5.9% from 18 to 24, 22.9% from 25 to 44, 32.2% from 45 to 64, and 16.1% who were 65 years of age or older.
