James "Jimmy" Keinhorst (born 14 July 1990 in Leeds)[3] is a German international rugby league player, playing for Leeds in the Super League and the Germany national rugby league team. He has also played for the Germany national rugby union team in the past.[4] His regular positions are centre and second row.

Club career

Keinhorst began playing rugby in 2004 while attending St. Mary's Catholic High School, Menston.[5]

Heidelberger RK

Keinhorst began playing rugby union as an amateur with Otley RUFC and moved to Germany to play with German side Heidelberger RK in 2009 at the age of 19 and won the National Championship in the 2008-10 season. He played 8 games and scored 4 tries in his first season.

Otley

Keinhorst rejoined Otley as a semi-professional in 2010 and went on to make 11 appearances in the 2010-11 season and scored 3 tries before leaving at the end of the season to sign a professional contract at rugby league side Leeds Rhinos.

Leeds Rhinos

Keinhorst signed for Leeds Rhinos in 2011[6] and made his Super League debut for Leeds on 30 July 2012 in a loss to Wakefield.[7] Keinhorst came on as a substitute in Leeds' losing appearance in the 2012 Challenge Cup final.[8]

In 2014 Keinhorst spent time on loan at Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, making seven appearances before returning to his parent club. He also spent time in the Championship with Leeds' feeder club Hunslet Hawks.

Keinhorst played from the bench for Leeds in the 2015 Super League Grand Final, and helped to set up the winning try for Josh Walters.

International career

Rugby union

He made his debut for Germany's national rugby union team in an ENC match against the Poland national rugby union team on 20 November 2010.[9] Keinhorst scored his first try for Germany a week later, against the Netherlands national rugby union team in Amsterdam.[10]

Rugby league

Keinhorst is the youngest of four rugby-playing brothers and qualifies to play for Germany through his German father Wolfgang, who has lived in the United Kingdom for many years.[11] He and his three brothers, Kristian, Markus, Nicholas set a world record in 2007, when they played a rugby league international for Germany against Czech Republic, becoming the most siblings to play in a rugby league international match.[12][13]

As of 2012, Keinhorst is the top try and point scorer for the German national rugby league team, having scored 19 tries and 108 points for the team so far in ten games.[4]
