Jarrod Sammut (born 15 February 1987) is an Australian-born, Maltese rugby league player who is currently without a club. He previously played for the Penrith Panthers in the National Rugby League (NRL). Sammut has represented Malta at international level in both rugby league[3] and rugby union.[4]

Early career

Jarrod Sammut was born in Blacktown, New South Wales, a western suburb of Sydney. He played school football and was educated at Patrician Brothers' College Blacktown and played junior football for Doonside Roos. He was a member of the 2006 Penrith Panthers Jersey Flegg squad that defeated the Newcastle Knights in the grand final.

Penrith Panthers

Jarrod Sammut made his debut in late 2007 against the Rabbitohs

He was responsible for some match winning performances during the 2008 season but failed to cement a regular spot in the team, before leaving the NRL for English Super League.

Super League

In March 2010, Sammut left Penrith to join Super League outfit Crusaders, based in Wrexham North Wales.[5] He signed with the Crusaders for three years.[6]

Sammut's arrival in Wales was delayed by volcanic ash and a broken down plane. The delay meant that Sammut made it to Wales only one day before the team headed to Edinburgh for the Magic Weekend.[7] Despite the late arrival and jet lag, Sammut scored a try in his Crusaders debut.[8]

Bradford Bulls

Jarrod became the 3rd new signing for the Bradford Bulls when he signed a 1 Year Contract with them.
