The Jingle Bell Ball is a concert held every year in December, by the Global Radio-owned Capital network at The O2 Arena. Its been announced that David Guetta will headline the Saturday night with support from Jason Derulo and Years and Years, Sunday is yet to be announced, with headline acts in the past including Taylor Swift, Take That, The Black Eyed Peas, Cheryl Cole, Girls Aloud, Janet Jackson, Jessie J, Katy Perry, Kylie Minogue, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Shakira, and Pink. Other notable acts who have performed at the Ball include Bruno Mars, JLS, Miley Cyrus, The Pussycat Dolls, Taio Cruz, Tinie Tempah, Rita Ora, The Wanted, 5 Seconds of Summer, Ed Sheeran, OneRepublic and The Vamps. A portion of ticket sales profit is donated to Global's Make Some Noise, Capital's flagship charity, formally known as Help a Capital Child and Help a London Child.[1]

It was held over one night – 8 December. David Smyth of the Evening Standard rated it three stars, saying it was "too quick to be boring but too superficial to stick in the mind".[2]

Cee Lo Green was originally scheduled to perform on the Saturday, however, due to bad weather, his flight was rescheduled to the next day and he performed on the Sunday.
2011
The 2011 event was held over two nights: Saturday, 3 December, and Sunday, 4 December, at The O2 Arena.
On 28 October the dates were confirmed by Capital. Olly Murs was the first act announced for the Saturday performance, also on 28 October.
Tickets for the concert on Saturday were released on 31 October 2011 at 8am and sold out in just over three hours.[3]

Little Mix performed as a three-piece, as member Perrie Edwards was unwell. Dave Berry and Lisa Snowden hosted the ball on both nights. 32,000 people attended the event over the two nights. Highlights of the event were also broadcast on Capital TV.

On Saturday night, Katy Perry was the main headliner with Tinie Tempah and Olly Murs as supporting headliners. On Sunday, Lady Gaga was the main headliner alongside Dizzee Rascal and Jessie J supporting. Dave Berry and Lisa Snowdon (Capital Breakfast Hosts) hosted the ball on both nights, alongside Pandora. Meanwhile, Rich Clarke, Kat Shoob, The Bassman and Greg Burns hosted on the radio throughout both nights.

2014
The first tickets for the show were given away as part of Global's Make Some Noise on 8 October 2014 although at the time the dates for the event were not confirmed. It was later revealed that the dates were 6 and 7 December 2014. It was confirmed on Capital FM on 20 October that the Jingle Bell Ball would be returning, with this years sponsor, major supermarket chain, Morrisons. All information on the ball, that is the venue, dates, acts and when tickets would be on sale was announced on 3 November 2014. It was held at London's O2 Arena on 6 and 7 December 2014, with acts such as OneRepublic, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and Jessie J performing. British boy band, Take That headlining on Saturday night, and worldwide sensation and American country star, Taylor Swift as the main headliner for the ball, to be performing on Sunday night. Tickets for general release went on sale on Friday 7 November. Tickets for both dates, sold out in under an hour, which is a record. 5 Seconds of Summer performed at the event as a three-piece as band member Michael was unable to fly out due to the loss of his passport.

2015
Dave Berry and Lisa Snowdon revealed that on 2015's event will once again be hosted at London's O2 Arena on Saturday 5 December and Sunday 6 December during Capital Breakfast on Monday 2 November 2015. The sponsors will be Coca Cola again after a years break. Tickets were released on the 6th of November, with pre-sales occurring in the week leading up to it. Both headliners will be announced on Friday 6th November on Capital Breakfast. On Monday 23 November, Tinie Tempah and Katy B were added to lineup, whilst Carly Rae Jepsen was added the following day. Marvin Humes confirmed via Twitter he was doing a Pre-Show DJ Set on both days. On December 5, Coldplay were the headliners and Justin Bieber was the headliner on December 6.

Radio presenters
The event went live across the nine station Capital radio network in 2011. The build-up was presented by James 'The Bassman' Bassam, Greg Burns, Will Cozens and Rich Clarke. James Barr was on air during the Jingle Bell Ball with Luke Smith on the after party. Roberto/Neil Williams presented online interactive content whilst Kat Shoob was a backstage reporter.
Sponsors
The first concert in 2008 was sponsored by Zavvi. In 2009 Windows 7 became the sponsor, in conjunction with the buildup for the operating system's launch. The sponsorship continued until 2011. During their sponsorship of the event, prizes including thousands of tickets to the ball, laptops, holidays, games consoles, smartphones and money were given away on air.
In 2012, BlackBerry sponsored the concert in a last-minute deal. In 2013, the event was sponsored by Coca-Cola. In 2014, Morrisons emerged as the new sponsor.
