Joe Sutton is an American playwright.[1] He writes in the traditional Aristotelian style. He teaches Playwrighting at Dartmouth College.

He is the son of actor Frank Sutton.

His play Voir Dire opened in 1995 at the Seattle Repertory Theatre to rave reviews. The play got much attention after the O. J. Simpson murder case and the sequestered jury deliberating a case with strong racial overtones and divisive social implications.[2]

His latest play, Complicit, was directed by Kevin Spacey and premiered at The Old Vic in London on 3 January 2009.[3][4] There are rumors that it will be made into a feature film starring Kevin Spacey, Julia Roberts and Kate Winslet.
