Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College is located in Highgate, Birmingham, England. The College offers a wide range of A level and Btec programmes. It also has an adult education provision.
About the College
Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College is located in Birmingham and the building was designed by London-based Nicholas Hare Architects in 2009. Joseph Chamberlain College is a sixth form college independently governed by its own Corporation and funded by the Government. It is not a school sixth form, nor is it part of a large FE college as is the case in most sixth form centres. The college offers many courses for students aged between 16 and 19 years. It also has courses for adults aged above 19 years of age and vocational programmes as well.

The EAL programme offered by the college is useful for students coming from all over the world for whom English is a foreign language. The courses start from the beginner’s level and can be studied up to the IELTS level which is for University Entrance. Students can take the EAL course in conjunction with any of the other courses which are suitable to them. Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College offers a range of adult education courses which are held in the college campus as well as other locations in the community. A-LEVEL PASS-RATE 2014 We are delighted to announce an A-Level pass-rate of 99% for 2014, making us the top-performing independent Sixth Form College in Birmingham.[2]

THE COLLEGE BUILDING In September 2008, a £40 million campus - designed by Nicholas Hare Architects - was opened across from the old College building.[5]
MUN – MODEL UNITED NATIONS The college hosted the first UK college Model United Nations event in 2010. This now happens annually at the college and takes place over a weekend in March. The original event was the first of its kind in the country and has maintained its status as the largest. The event involves 300 young people from sixth form colleges nationwide who come together, to debate issues, develop compromises, practise public speaking skills and work with peers they have never met before. The conference took place in the college’s award-winning building in Birmingham.
In excess of thirty colleges from across the country take part in three days of discussion, lobbying, debate and voting on resolutions dealing with global issues. Students act as delegates from U.N. member states working in specific Committees such as Human Rights, Disarmament and Ecology & Environment, before taking part in the General Assembly meeting on the last day. CIC – COLLEGE FOR INTERNATIONAL CITIZENSHIP The college for international citizenship is a leading international summer school programme based at the Joseph Chamberlain College building in Birmingham. It is a 10-week programme based around global citizenship. Students come from all over the world to take part in this unique summer school. The programme is run by CIC Director Elly Tobin who is also Principal of Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College.[7]

The most recent Ofsted inspection took place in September 2014 and the College was awarded ‘Good’.[8]
UKIED SILVER AWARD
In May 2014 Joseph Chamberlain College was given the Silver award from UKIED. The award recognises Equality and Diversity at the College. The UK Investor in Equality and Diversity (UKIED) charter mark is an established specialist equality and diversity (E & D) quality assurance organisational tool that has been developed to support all types of organisations (ranging from large multinational companies and large public sector organisations, charities and third sector organisations through to SMEs) navigate their way through the new E&D legislative landscape; particularly in terms of the Equality Act (2010) and Public Sector Equality Duties and developing equality and diversity best practice.
The UKIED charter mark is fundamentally about establishing and promoting E & D, safeguarding and equal opportunities best practice and is also about providing national recognition of your organisation's E & D achievements.[9]
QUEEN ANNIVERSARY PRIZE FOR HIGHER & FURTHER EDUCATION
In 2007 Her Majesty The Queen, on the advice of the Prime Minister, approved the award of her Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education to Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College. Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College is one of twenty universities and colleges across the United Kingdom to receive The Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education. Joseph Chamberlain was the only sixth form college in the UK to be on the list of prize winners. The College is now a recipient of the Queen’s Anniversary Prize.[10]
