The Journal of Regional Science is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by Wiley-Blackwell. Established in 1958, it was the first journal in the field of Regional science. The current editors-in-chief are Marlon G. Boarnet (University of Southern California), Steven Brakman (University of Groningen), Mark D. Partridge (The Ohio State University) and Gianmarco I.P. Ottaviano (The London School of Economics and Political Science). Contributors hold positions in a variety of academic disciplines: economics, geography, agricultural economics, rural sociology, urban and regional planning, and civil engineering. Articles are usually empirical, occasionally methodological or theoretical, but always quantitative.

According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal has a 2011 impact factor of 2.0, ranking it 7th out of 54 journals in the category "Planning & Development".[1]
