Kilnamartyra, Kilnamartery or Kilnamartra (Irish: Cill na Martra, meaning "church of the martyr", Irish pronunciation: [ˈkʲiːlʲ n̪ˠə ˈmʷɑrˠtˠərˠə] )[1] is a Civil Parish in west County Cork, Ireland.

Geography

The 35 townlands of Kilnamartyra were part of the barony of West Muskerry.

Culture

The local national school is called Scoil Lachtain Naofa. It is a Gaelscoil and is named after Saint Lachtain, the patron saint of Cill na Martra.

There are several amenities in the village such as the local GAA pitch and two pubs. Kilnamartyra is home to renowned fiddle player Connie O'Connell.

Industry

Kilnamartyra has been home to the Prince August Toy Soldier factory since 1976, which manufactures and sells a range of military and fantasy figurines and home-making kits. They have a Visitors Centre which is open to the public.

Transportation

Cill na Martra is one kilometre from the L3402 local road which joins the N22 road, which is three kilometres away.
