Lab126, Inc is a subsidiary of Amazon.com, responsible for R&D,[1] and widely known for developing Amazon's Kindle devices.[2][3][4] It is based in Cupertino, California and is led by Gregg Zehr.

The name comes from how 1 and the 26 stand for the first and last letters of the English alphabet.

Projects

In addition to the Kindle e-readers, Lab126 is developing other "easy-to-use, highly integrated consumer products to serve Amazon customers".[5]

In 2011, Lab126 released the Kindle Fire tablet and in 2012 released two new models of the Fire tablet called the Kindle Fire HD.[6]

In 2014, Lab126 released the Amazon Fire TV digital media player.

In June 2014, Lab126 announced the Fire Phone that had cameras to track the user's eyes to give the impression of 3D and it was released in July.[1][7]

In 2015, Lab126 released the Amazon Echo, a voice command device.
