List of Miami Hurricanes in the NFL

The University of Miami's football program has set multiple records in producing players who go on to play in the National Football League (NFL). Which has led many to consider the University to be deemed "NFL U".

Records

• The Hurricanes hold the record for most players selected in the first round in a single draft (6, in 2004), most first-round draft picks in a two-year period (11, from 2003 to 2004), most first-round draft picks in a three-year period (15, from 2002 through 2004), and most first-round picks in a four-year period (19, from 2001 through 2004).

• For a 14-year period, from 1994 through 2008, the University of Miami had at least one player selected in the first round of the NFL Draft, a NFL Draft record.

• The Miami Hurricanes are also 11th overall on the NFL's all-time number of draft picks with 325.

• As of the 2015 NFL season, UM has 45 players on NFL rosters, including players on NFL Practice Squads and Injured Reserves and not including current Free Agents, which is the most out of any NCAA program in the nation.

• As of the 2015 NFL Draft, Miami now has had at least one NFL draft pick in every draft since 1975, each of the last 41 NFL drafts, one of the longest streaks among FBS programs.
• The Hurricanes once had a streak of 149 consecutive regular season weeks where a former Hurricane scored a touchdown in an NFL game; the streak started in Week 15 of the 2002 NFL regular season and ended in Week 11 of the 2011 season. During the streak, 33 different former Hurricanes scored touchdowns and a total of 661 touchdowns were scored.
• From the 2001 Miami Hurricanes football team alone, 42 players went on to be drafted into the NFL from (2002-2006), including 17 1st round picks.
• The Hurricanes have had at least one former player make the Pro Bowl every season since 1985, 29 years in a row.

• Over time, some sportswriters have called Miami 'Quarterback U' as a result of the number of high-profile quarterbacks who attended UM, including Jim Kelly, Bernie Kosar, Vinny Testaverde, Steve Walsh, Craig Erickson, Gino Torretta, and Ken Dorsey.

• Also have been considered 'Running Back U' for many years due to the extensive number of high caliber running backs that come out of the 'The U', including Edgerrin James, Clinton Portis, Willis McGahee, Frank Gore, Chuck Foreman, Ottis Anderson, Alonzo Highsmith, Lamar Miller, and UM's all-time leading rusher, new draftee Duke Johnson.

WRU

• Can also be considered 'Wide Receiver U' for a bevy of talented receivers to go on to star in the NFL including Michael Irvin, Reggie Wayne, Andre Johnson, Eddie Brown, Brian Blades, Brett Perriman, Santana Moss, Devin Hester (also considered the best return man in NFL history), and new draftee Phillip Dorsett.

TEU

• Hurricane Tight-Ends are amongst the best in the NFL on a yearly basis, and have included Bubba Franks, Jeremy Shockey, Kellen Winslow II, Greg Olsen, Jimmy Graham, and new draftee Clive Walford.

DBU

• Miami has produced some of the best DB's to ever play in the NFL, highlighted by Sean Taylor, Ed Reed, and Antrel Rolle, and also including Fred Marion, Bennie Blades, Darryl Williams, Ryan McNeil, Duane Starks, Phillip Buchanon, Brandon Meriweather, Kenny Phillips, and Sam Shields.

• Miami Linebackers have been known as some of the best to ever play in the NFL, including Ray Lewis, Ted Hendricks, Jonathan Vilma, Jon Beason, Jessie Armstead, Dan Morgan, D.J. Williams, Michael Barrow, Darrin Smith and new draftee Denzel Perryman.

• Tervaris Johnson - Undrafted in the 2010 NFL Draft signed as a free agent by the Kansas City Chiefs (2010-2011).

• Kevin Everett - Drafted in the 3rd round of the 2005 NFL Draft as the 86th pick by the Buffalo Bills (2005–2007), suffered a career ending cervical spine injury in 2007, was not removed from the active roster by the Bills until 2008 so he could qualify for full pension.
• Buck Ortega - Undrafted in the 2006 NFL Draft, played for the Washington Redskins (2006), Cleveland Browns (2007), Miami Dolphins (2007), and the New Orleans Saints (2008-2009).
• Greg Olsen # (1x ProBowler) - Drafted in the 1st round of the 2007 NFL Draft as the 31st pick by the Chicago Bears (2007–2010), and currently plays for the Carolina Panthers (2011–present).
• Jimmy Graham (3x ProBowler) - Drafted in the 3rd round of the 2010 NFL Draft as the 95th pick by the New Orleans Saints (2010-2014) and currently plays for the Seattle Seahawks (2015–present). Played four years of basketball at Miami, and entered into 2009 NBA Draft, but went undrafted and was not signed to an NBA team, returned to Miami for 2010 college football season, playing for the first time since high school, and finished season with 17 catches, 213 yards, and 5 TD's.
• Dedrick Epps - Drafted in the 7th round of the 2010 NFL Draft as the 235th pick by the San Diego Chargers (2010), also played for the Miami Dolphins (2010), and the New York Jets (2011–2012).

• Joe Krutulis - Drafted in the 15th round of the 1942 NFL Draft as the 140th pick by the Chicago Bears. Did not play.
• Tony Yovicsin - Drafted in the 7th round of the 1947 NFL Draft as the 51st pick by the Philadelphia Eagles. Did not play.
• Ralph Fieler - Drafted in the 29th round of the 1951 NFL Draft as the 341st pick by the Green Bay Packers. Did not play.
