Caroline Louisa Cavendish-Bentinck (née Burnaby; died 6 July 1918) was the maternal grandmother of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, great-grandmother of Elizabeth II, great-great-grandmother of Charles, Prince of Wales, great-great-great-grandmother of Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and his brother Prince Harry, and great-great-great-great-grandmother of Prince George of Cambridge and his sister Princess Charlotte of Cambridge, as well as being an ancestress of other members of the British Royal Family.

She was born in Leicester, the daughter of Edwyn Burnaby of Baggrave Hall and his wife Anne Caroline Salisbury.[1] She was baptised on 5 December 1832 at Hungarton, Leicestershire.[2]

Marriages

She married the Reverend Charles Cavendish-Bentinck, as his second wife, on 13 December 1859.[3] Together they had three children:

After her first husband's death in 1865, she married Harry Warren Scott, the son of Sir William Scott of Ancrum, 6th Baronet, on 30 September 1870.[3] He died on 23 August 1889 at Forbes House, Ham, Surrey.[4] She died, twice widowed, on 6 July 1918 at Dawlish, Devon.[5]
