Lutheran Church of Budavár is the oldest Lutheran church of Buda. It was built in 1895 at Bécsi kapu tér in the District I of Budapest.

First church for the Lutherans of Buda was built by Maria Dorothea, third wife of Palatine Joseph. It was made in 1846 at hu:Dísz tér. Because Ministry of Defence needed the territory, so after a change of sites new church was built near Bécsi kapu.

Building was designed by Mór Kallina and it was consecrated in 1895 by Sámuel Sárkány, bishop of Lutheran diocese of Bánya. It has eclectic Neobaroque style. It has a neobaroque façade. Its entry is surrounded by two Corinthian order-like column, there is a shoulder over them. It is square-like tall, slim tower. Its steeple has Neobaroque style as well. There is a double loft over the entrance.

.

During the Siege of Budapest in 1945 a bomb detonation destroyed nearly the whole church. Only the façade remained uninjured. Classicist altar, benches and organ as well all were destroyed. Plans for the reconstruction were made by Lóránt Friedrich and Jr Gyula Bretz. The renewed church was sanctified by Lajos Ordas bishop on the palm Sunday of 1948. Its exterior remained Neobaroque, but its interior became much more simple. There is a huge cross behind the wood altar table. There is a mosaic window over it which gives some light to the church. There is a red marble chrzcielnica at the altar. There is a bronze tablet about Gábor Sztehlo vicar.

This church is today as well the centre of the liturgical life of the Lutheran Diocese of Budavár. There are several services on every Sunday and holidays. Flats and offices for vicars, rooms for congregation and the centre of the German Speaking Lutheran Diocese of Budavár are co-built to the church. Since 1952 it is the centre of the Northern Lutheran See. Several bishops were inducted here. Tower and the paved part in front of the church were renovated in 2008.
