Matei Basarab National College (Romanian: Colegiul Național "Matei Basarab") is a high school in Bucharest, Romania. It opened in November 1860, one of two secondary schools to open that year in the Romanian capital, the other being Gheorghe Lazăr Gymnasium, in order to supplement the older Saint Sava High School.[1]

Alumni include Nicolae Cajal, Ștefan S. Nicolau, Constantin Levaditi, Gheorghe Marinescu, Constantin Miculescu, Vintilă M. Mihăilescu, Ion Mincu, Miron Nicolescu[2] and George Oprescu.[3] Former faculty include Emanoil Bacaloglu, Gheorghe Munteanu-Murgoci, Ioan Slavici and Constantin Moisil.[4]
