Michael B. "Mike" Pollock (born March 9, 1965 in Roslyn Heights, New York)[1] is an American voice actor who has been notable for voicing Doctor Eggman in the Sonic the Hedgehog series and playing many characters in anime dubs by 4Kids Entertainment, NYAV Post, DuArt Film and Video, and (most recently) Studiopolis.

Career

Pollock has provided voices for many characters including Raoul Contesta, Cheren and Drayden in Pokémon, Meat in Ultimate Muscle,[2] Langston Lickatoad in Viva Piñata,[2] Suikyou in Ikki Tousen, Mitsuru Minowa in Magic User's Club[2] and Beast in the motion comic adaptation of Astonishing X-Men.

Pollock has appeared as the narrator for 4Kids shows and some promos on the original Fox Box and 4Kids TV.

In the song "Neighbours Ate My Zombies" by the progressive-rock band "Freen In Green," Pollock voices the Neighbour.[3]

Sonic the Hedgehog

Starting with the 2003 premiere of Sonic X, Pollock plays the roles of Doctor Eggman, Professor Gerald, and Eggman Nega. Pollock took over the role of Eggman in the video games starting with the 2005 game Shadow the Hedgehog. This is because Sega decided to make the voices in the series and games match, removing all of their previous actors. (It is a common misconception that the reason for this was that the death of actor Deem Bristow led to this decision, when in actuality, it was already decided by the time of his death).

Unlike several 4Kids voice actors, which have often received negative reaction from some fans and critics, Pollock was widely praised for his role, and has been deemed as a worthy successor to Deem Bristow.

On July 15, 2010, it was announced that Sega will be changing the voice actors for the Sonic the Hedgehog characters, moving the voice recording from 4Kids in New York to Studiopolis in California; however, it was also announced that Pollock will continue to voice Dr. Eggman. (He still lives in New York, but communicates with the Studiopolis cast via headphones and edited voice-tracks.)

Pollock reprised his role for the character in the video game and TV series, Sonic Boom, to debuted in autumn 2014.[4]
