Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences
Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences (Mamk) provides education in seven fields of study, participates in research and development and provides services to the businesses and residents of the area. Mamk is a university for lifelong learning and an expert of digital information management. There is a total of 4,500 students and 350 staff at the Mikkeli and Savonlinna campuses.
Together, Mamk and Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences (Kyamk) constitute South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences Ltd. In 2017, Mamk and Kyamk will merge and form a new, joint university of applied sciences. The new university of applied sciences will provide students with a wider range of courses, more diverse services and the fifth-largest student community in Finland. The name and structure of the new university of applied sciences will be decided during 2015.
Mamk is the most successful university of applied sciences in Finland, and it has been granted 18 awards of achievement by the Ministry of Education and Culture. According to a comparison by Talouselämä magazine, Mamk is the best university of applied sciences in Finland. According to the comparison, Mamk has Finland's best student satisfaction, studies roll well and diploma targets are met as agreed, among other things. The good results are seen in operations development and in the wellbeing of students and staff. Competent and motivated staff is Mamk's most important asset.
Mamk has been granted a quality label by the Finnish Higher Education Evaluation Council. The label is valid until 2019. The label is an indication that Mamk's quality process meets the national criteria for quality management in higher education and corresponds to the principles and recommendations of quality management in European higher education.

Mamk is a student-friendly university
In Mamk, you can study for a bachelor's degree in 18 degree programmes, 3 of which are taught in English. There are also 10 master’s degree programmes. You can take either a full-day or multi-mode approach to studying for the degree. The extent of the degree is from 210 to 240 ECTS credits, and study time is from 3.5 to 4 years.
Multi-mode studies are appropriate for those who are already working or have other bars to attending traditional full-day teaching. Studies are implemented flexibly, and often previously completed studies can be credited as parts of the degree.

Applied research and development with top results
The research, development and innovation (RDI) activities at Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences are targeted to increasing renewal, growth and entrepreneurship in the region. In the background, they are influenced by the strategic goals of the European Union and the development needs of South Savo. The main focus areas are:
- Promoting sustainable wellbeing
- Promoting sustainable use of materials and environmental safety
- Developing digital archiving and eServices
In RDI, Mamk's experts cooperate both on national and international level with companies, research institutes and universities, among others. Results benefit the working life and industries as well as ordinary people.
There may even be innovations that have wider significance for the society. For example, an environmentally-friendly recovery method for carbon dioxide was granted a patent in the spring of 2014. Mamk also rewards students and staff for good ideas. In 2013, there were 22 invention disclosures made in Mamk.

Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences provides companies, individual people and organisations with a wide range of expert, wellbeing, meeting and restaurant services as well as continuing education services. In addition, the range of services includes the high-quality facilities and devices of Mamk's laboratories. Companies can also benefit from the skills of the university of applied sciences students by hiring a trainee or a student who can do their thesis on a topic relevant to the company.
