Moreland Buslines is a privately owned bus and coach operator in Melbourne, Australia. As a Melbourne bus company, it operates two bus routes under contract to the Government of Victoria.

History

In 1955 Clarrie Wright began operating a Reo on routes 510 Melville Road – High Street and 511 North EssendonSydney Road along with six other operators. By 1969 Wright had bought out the other operators and formed Moreland Buslines.[1][2]

In 1973 the business of Thompson Roadlines was purchased with Moreland entering the coach charter market and later operating safari tours to Central Australia. In July 1985 Taranto Bus Lines was purchased with route 512 StrathmoreEast Coburg followed by Geographical Tours and Bakers Bus Lines.[2] In 1996 Landmark Tours was purchased and Moreland began to operate services under contract to Greyhound Pioneer Australia, a relationship that continues as at 2014.[1][3]

In 2007 the Wright family purchased a 50% in neighbouring Broadmeadows Bus Service, this was sold in 2011 to Dom Sita.[1]

In the early 2010s Morelands further expanded with the purchase of GBS in Wonthaggi. In early 2013 Phillip Island Buslines was purchased. Wonthaggi and Philip Island then became South Coast Bus and Phillip Island Bus respectively.
