Núi Thành (Audio file "Nui Thanh.ogg" not found) is a district (huyện) of Quảng Nam Province in the South Central Coast region of Vietnam. As of 2003 the district had a population of 142,020.[1] The district covers an area of 533 km². The district capital lies at Núi Thành.[1]
The Núi Thành District has the biggest gas warehouse of the central area of Vietnam: Total Gas & Power Co. Ltd's Ky Ha gas warehouse, near the Ky Ha Fishing Port[2] (it was previously a military air base, Cf. List of United States Marine Corps installations#Vietnam).
Nui Thanh is also the home to the Chu Lai International Airport which is renovated from the abandoned Chu Lai Air Base in Vietnam War. As of 2015, the airport provide direct daily flights to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
History
This district is founded on December 3 in 1983 when Tam Ky district is partitioned into Nui Thanh District and provincial city Tam Ky of Quang Nam – Da Nang province. Since November 26, 1996, the district is a division of Quang Nam province with Nui Thanh town as the district center and 16 communes: Tam Anh Bắc, Tam Anh Nam, Tam Giang, Tam Hải, Tam Hiệp, Tam Hòa, Tam Mỹ Đông, Tam Mỹ Tây, Tam Nghĩa, Tam Quang, Tam Sơn, Tam Thạnh, Tam Tiến, Tam Trà, Tam Xuân 1, Tam Xuân 2.
