Nathan Peats (born 5 October 1990) is an Australian professional rugby league footballer who currently plays for the Gold Coast Titans in the National Rugby League. He plays at hooker and lock, and previously played for the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Parramatta Eels.

Background

The son of former Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs hooker Geordi Peats, his schooling was completed at Christian Brothers' High School Lewisham. Peats was a South Sydney Junior who played for the La Perouse Panthers.[2]

Professional playing career

South Sydney

Peats was Souths' Under 20s captain, scoring 14 tries in 46 Toyota Cup games. He captained the 2010 Under-20s South Sydney Rabbitohs team all the way to their grand final alongside team-mates Adam Reynolds, Dylan Farrell and Josh Starling, where they lost to the New Zealand Warriors 42-28.

On 1 April 2011, Peats made his NRL Premiership début for the Rabbitohs against the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles at Bluetongue Stadium.[3] Peats played in the Indigenous All Stars in 2012 and 2013, and represented City Origin in 2013.[2] In June 2013, Peats signed a three-year deal with the Parramatta Eels starting from the 2014 season.[4]

Parramatta Eels

Peats was named in the Parramatta Eels team to compete in the 2014 Auckland Nines pre-season tournament. Good early season form from Peats for his new club saw his name thrown up, with others, as a potential replacement for the injured Robbie Farah at hooker for New South Wales.

Gold Coast Titans

On 11 May 2016, following the Parramatta Eels salary cap breach, Peats joined the Gold Coast Titans effective immediately on a contract to the end of 2017, after he was asked to leave to get the Eels back under the salary cap.[5]
