National Highway 7 or NH 7, is major North-South National Highway in India that runs through the states of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. NH-7 was laid and is maintained by Central Public Works Department (CPWD). This highway starts from the area Hyderabad Gate in Varanasi.

The highway connects several important Indian cities such as Varanasi, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Madurai and Kanyakumari. A major part of NH 7 covers the North-South Corridor of NHDP and it is officially listed as running over 2,369 km (1,472 mi) from Varanasi to Kanyakumari. It is the longest national highway in India. As per the recent rationalization of Highway numbers this highway is proposed to be renamed as NH 44, but it is still named as NH-7 as per official government records.[1]

Nagpur-Hyderabad road

The road condition for a 80 km stretch between Hinganghat and Adilabad is in a bad condition as of October 2014. However, the road condition from Adilabad to Hyderabad is excellent, with black top 4-lane divided highway.

Hyderabad-Bangalore road

This stretch of appx. 500 km is pretty good; you can cover in less than 8 hours.

Bangalore-Hosur road

Bangalore-Hosur Road is the part of National Highway 7 which connects the city of Bangalore capital of Karnataka, and the Tamil Nadu border town of Hosur in Krisnagiri district. It is a four to six-lane highway which also has service lanes on either sides at the busier parts. Apart from being a part of the National Highway, the road is also significant because it consist of many industrial and IT business houses. The famous IT industrial park Electronics City is also located alongside Hosur Road.

The National Highways Authority of India has constructed a 10-kilometer-long elevated highway between Bommanahalli and Electronics City. This toll road has made travel to Electronics City a lot faster. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike and Bangalore Development Authority have planned a series of flyovers and underpasses to make this arterial road signal free.[2]
