Naz Aydemir Akyol (born 14 August 1990 in Istanbul) is a Turkish volleyball player. She is 186 cm and plays as setter for Vakıfbank Spor Kulübü and Turkey women's national volleyball team. She has won two league championships with Fenerbahçe and three with Eczacıbaşı Zentiva. She also has two CEV Champions League championships 2012 with Fenerbahçe and 2013 with VakıfBank.

Career

She has played over 100 times for all the levels of the national team. She has played for the senior team of her club since the 2004–05 season. She was the captain of the youth national team of Turkey who won the silver medal in the World Championship. In the 2008 edition of the Junior European Championship, she led the Turkish team to a Bronze medal and won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award of the tournament. In the 2011-12 edition and 2012-13 edition of the CEV Champions League, Aydemir won the Best Setter award consecutively and the competition championships, with her clubs Fenerbahçe and Vakıfbank Spor Kulübü.

Aydemir won her first FIVB Women's Club World Championship gold medal at the 2010 Club World Championship (Gold Medalist = Fenerbahce Acibadem - Istanbul, Silver Medalist = Sollys Osasco - Brazil, Bronze Medalist = Norda Foppapedretti Bergamo).

The Women's Volleyball TEAM of 108-year-old FENERBAHCE Sports Club from Istanbul Turkey is the First Turkish Volleyball team that has won a FIVB Women's Club World Championship gold medal, Vakif bank Istanbul Turkey has been able to achieve this title three years after the accomplishment of FENERBAHCE.


Aydemir won the gold medal (her second club's world title after her first one with Fenerbahce) at the 2013 Club World Championship playing with Vakıfbank Istanbul.[1]

Aydemir won the silver medal in the 2013–14 CEV Champions League when her Turkish club VakıfBank İstanbul defeated 3-1 to Eczacıbaşı VitrA Istanbul in the semifinal[2] but lost 0-3 to the Russian Dinamo Kazan in the Championship match.[3] She was the recipient of the tournament's Fair Play special award.[3]

Personal life

Aydemir's cousin İlkay Gündoğan is a footballer for Borussia Dortmund and the German national team.[4]

On August 21, 2013, Naz Aydemir married to national basketball player and member of Galatasaray S.K. Cenk Akyol.[5]
