The New Republic is a fictional government in the Star Wars universe.
Following a decisive Rebel victory at the Battle of Endor,[1] the Alliance to Restore the Republic reorganized itself into the New Republic. The goal of the New Republic was to restore democratic rule to the galaxy. Initially, the planet Chandrila served as the capital of the government and the seat of its Galactic Senate; later, it would be relocated to the planet Hosnian Prime, until that planet's destruction by the First Order's Starkiller Base in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
