North American Martyrs Catholic Church
North American Martyrs Catholic Church is a Roman Catholic parish served by the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP) in Seattle, Washington. The FSSP have traditionally celebrated Mass according to the Tridentine Rite, the form that was replaced by the liturgical reforms of the Second Vatican Council in the 1960s. Pope Benedict XVI issued the Summorum Pontificum in 2007, recognizing the older Tridentine Rite as a form that could be celebrated and, by 2008, North American Martyrs Catholic Church became the first Seattle parish to be directly supported by (then) Archbishop Alexander Joseph Brunett as celebrating this mass in "full communion with Rome".[1]
About 500 parishioners frequent North American Martyrs,[1] with masses at St. Alphonsus Church in Ballard as well as Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline, WA. The parish does not yet have a permanent home. Its current pastor is Fr. Gerard Saguto, FSSP.
The parish is named after the North American Martyrs, eight Jesuit missionaries martyred in the mid-17th century.
