OC Transpo Route 4 is a crosstown bus route operated by OC Transpo in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, that runs between Hurdman Station and the Rideau Centre in downtown Ottawa. All trips also serve Carleton University. Just like route 2, the route is not recognized as a rapid transit route by OC Transpo.

Route

Route 4 begins its route at Hurdman Station and travels along the South-East Transitway until it reaches Billings Bridge Station. Making its way from Billings Bridge Station, it travels via Bronson Avenue (with a small detour to serve Carleton University) until buses reach Albert Street (westbound) and Slater Street (eastbound). Route 4 travels via Albert and Slater until reaching Bay Street (eastbound) or Lyon Street (westbound). Buses then use Queen Street, Elgin Street, and Rideau Street to reach the Rideau Centre.[1]

Buses

Route 4 uses both Orion VII diesel-electric hybrid buses and New Flyer D40i Invero buses (both 40 foot models), with occasional trips served by New Flyer D60LFR 60 foot articulated buses.

Headway

Weekdays

Service Monday to Friday is every 15 minutes most of the day. Evening service is 30 minutes, while morning service is 20 minutes. During the University school year (September–April), supplementary service is provided from Carleton University to both the Rideau Centre and Hurdman Station.[2]

Saturday

Headway on route 4 on Saturdays is generally every 20 minutes, except every 30 minutes during the morning and 30 minutes during the evenings.[3]

Sunday

Sunday service is 30 minutes all day, with the exception of late evenings, which are every 60 minutes.[4]
