Parasites are an American pop-punk band. They were formed in the late 80's by guitarist / singer Dave Parasite and bassist Ron Nole in New Jersey.[1] Dave later relocated to Berkeley, California, and continued with a new lineup during the heyday of Lookout! Records and the Bay Area pop-punk revival.[2] The Parasites have had many personnel changes over their long career, with the most notable members being drummer Dan Cofer and his brother Scott Cofer, both formerly of the 80s thrash-metal band Pillage Sunday.

Parasites have been releasing records since 1987 and toured the US, Europe and Japan extensively. They have played with Green Day, Rancid, NOFX, Bad Religion, Buzzcocks, Jawbreaker, The Queers, L7, Teenage Bottlerocket, The Mr. T Experience, The Smoking Popes, Dillinger 4, The Ataris, Swingin' Utters, Weston, Ben Weasel, The Ergs, The Methadones, The Lillingtons, Squirtgun, D.O.A., Los Crudos, Sloppy Seconds, Dan Vapid and the Cheats, Down By Law, Avail, J Church, Travoltas, The Apers, Banner Pilot, Iron Chic, Boris The Sprinkler, FYP, Lemuria, Masked Intruder, and thousands of other bands. Parasites toured in 1993-1998, 2000, and 2002.

After taking a break in 2003, the band released Retro-Pop Remasters , a "Best Of" compilation in 2006, on Go Kart Records,[3] and several new studio CDs:[4] "Solitary" in 2009, and "Non Stop Power Pop" in 2012, both on Kid Tested Records, Dave Parasite's imprint label of Go Kart Records, and a track on a 4 way split 7" in 2013. Since resuming in 2006, the band has toured in 2006, 2007, 2009, 2012-2015, and is touring in May 2016 to support their 30th anniversary and the release of "Parasongs", a 34 band Parasites Tribute.
