Peter Marvin Alexander [1] (born July 29, 1976) is an Emmy Award winning American journalist working for NBC News. Alexander was named NBC News White House Correspondent in December 2012. His reports appear across all platforms of NBC News, including NBC Nightly News, Today, Meet the Press, Dateline NBC, MSNBC and NBCNews.com.[2] He is now an NBC News national correspondent based in Washington, D.C.; he also continues as White House correspondent. His sister is Rebecca Alexander, who is a psychotherapist living in New York City.

Early life
Alexander was born on July 29, 1976 to mother Terry Alexander (née Pink) in Oakland, California, and his father David Alexander, who is an attorney.[3][4][5] He has two younger twin siblings in psychotherapist Rebecca Alexander (born February 4, 1979) in Oakland, California,[6][7][8] and lawyer Daniel Alexander (born February 4, 1979) in Oakland, California.[9] Alexander's parents are divorced. His sister has Usher syndrome type III. By his father, he has a half-sister Lauren.
Career
Since arriving at NBC News in 2004, Alexander has covered numerous international stories— from Iraq’s historic election in 2005 to the death of Osama bin Laden in Pakistan, and the tsunami in Indonesia. He has filed reports from Afghanistan, the Galapagos Islands, Gaza, Israel, Laos and Mexico. Alexander’s work also includes environmental reporting from the Northwest Passage in the Arctic, and reports on the deeply personal story of his sister, Rebecca, who has Usher Syndrome, type III — a rare genetic disorder that is robbing her of her vision and her hearing.
Alexander has covered numerous breaking news events, including anchoring live coverage of the "Miracle on the Hudson" and the "Tragedy at Virginia Tech." In 2010, he reported on the international controversy surrounding Wikileaks and its founder Julian Assange. In addition to his news responsibilities, Alexander has also served as an NBC Sports host, and covered both the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games.
White House correspondent
Alexander served as a White House correspondent from 2012 to March 2014.
He covered President Barack Obama's White House. He traveled all across the world with the President.
He is now an NBC News national correspondent based in Washington, D.C.. He still occasionally reports from the White House.
Personal life
On April 21, 2012 Alexander married his girlfriend, Alison Starling, an anchor at WJLA-TV (Washington, DC's ABC affiliate). Peter and Allison welcomed their first child, Ava Starling Alexander, on Tuesday, July 23, 2013.[10] On December 11, 2014, the Washington Post noted that Alexander and his wife were expecting the couple's second child.[11] On June 16, 2015, his wife gave birth to their second child, a daughter named Emma Pink Alexander.[12]
They live outside of Washington, DC.
Accolades
He was nominated for the Outstanding Live Coverage of a Breaking News Story – Long Form News & Documentary Emmy Award for his participation in the NBC News Special Report: The Death of Pope John Paul II (2005) news documentary.[13]
