The PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG) is an organization that oversees the planning and development of the 2018 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

POCOG's offices are currently located in Seoul, PyeongChang and Gangneung, with plan to relocate the Seoul headquarters to PyeongChang in near future.

Leadership

On May 3rd, 2016, the government announced Hee-Beom Lee, a former Minister of Trade, Industry, and Energy as the candidate to succeed the former President and CEO of POCOG, Cho Yang-ho. Lee is the third president to head POCOG.

Cho Yang-ho is Chairman of Hanjin Group.[1] President Cho had enjoyed a long-standing relationship with the Olympic movement and was active in PyeongChang's bid for the Olympic Winter Games. On May 3rd, 2016, President Cho resigned on the ground of returning to focus on his company, Hanjin Group.

Cho was preceded by Kim Jin-sun, former Governor of the Gangwon Province, who served as Special Ambassador for the Olympic Bid.

Organizational Structure

POCOG comprises Advisory Committee, whose members include the Prime Minister, Chairman of the National Assembly, IOC Member Kun-Hee Lee, Chairman of the Federation of the Korean Industries, six Vice Chairmen, Executive Board, and Advisory Group. The Secretariat is led by Secretary General and three Vice Secretaries General. The structure is to expand leading up to the Games.
