QNAP Systems, Inc. (Chinese 威聯通科技) is a Taiwanese corporation that specializes in providing networked solutions for file sharing, virtualization, storage management and surveillance applications to address corporate, SMB, SOHO and home user needs.

History
QNAP, standing for “Quality Network Appliance Provider” was founded in 2004 as a subsidiary of IEI Integration Corporation,[1] an industrial computing service provider in Taiwan.[2] QNAP was formerly Internet Appliance Department under IEI Group focusing on Network Storage, Digital Surveillance, and Message Communication. In 2004, the department was spun off into QNAP System Inc. and became a wholly owned subsidiary under IEI Group.[3] In 2006, QNAP launched its Turbo NAS TS-101, which is the first NAS with SATA interface in the world.

Founded in 2004 and headquartered in Xizhi District, New Taipei City, Taiwan; QNAP has offices located in Pomona, Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, the United Kingdom, Netherlands, and Germany. Since July 2011, QNAP has been an Associate Member of Intel’s Intelligent Systems Alliance.[4] QNAP is one of the global NAS vendors and ranked 2nd with its market share of 13.8% by units shipped out in 2011.[5][6] Currently QNAP has more than 700 employees around the world.
Product Overview
QNAP's main products include Network-Attached Storage (NAS), Network Video Recorders (NVR) and Digital Signage (DS.) The company’s product lineup and services include Turbo NAS, VioStor NVR, digital signage players and video wall controllers.
App Center & Development Platform
QNAP have also introduced a Development Platform for professional software vendors, system integrators, and independent software programmers to design their own various applications for use with Turbo NAS systems. The QNAP Development Toolkit (API & SDK) is provided for developers to design applications that can run on client devices (such as a smartphones and PCs) and remotely manage and access files and documents on Turbo NAS systems. As the concept of Internet of Things (IoT) becomes more popular, QNAP also leverages its various applications from App Center provided by the Turbo NAS to build an IoT development center.[7] Aiming for the IoT market, QNAP plans to establish a development center in Hsinchu with focus on cloud computing service in the near future.[8]

- QNAP dedicates itself to data security, and in 2014 received ISO 27001:2013 certification in information security management.[9]
