Raghunathganj I is a community development block that forms an administrative division in Jangipur subdivision of Murshidabad district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Raghunathganj police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is at Raghunathganj. It is located 52 km from Baharampur, the district headquarters.

Raghunathganj I CD Block is bounded by Suti I CD Block in the north, Raghunathganj II and Lalgola CD Blocks in the east, Sagardighi CD Block in the south and Murarai II CD Block in Birbhum district in the west.[1]

Raghunathganj I CD Block has an area of 94.65 km2.
Physical features
The Bhagirathi divides the district into two parts namely Bagri on the east and Rahr on the west. The Padma separates the district from Malda district, and Chapai Nawabganj and Rajshahi districts of Bangladesh.[2]

As per 2011 Census of India Raghunathganj I CD Block had a total population of 195,627, of which 133,114 were rural and 62,513 were urban. There were 100,295 (50%) males and 95,332 (50%) females. Population below 6 years numbered 29,157. Scheduled Castes numbered 53,027 and Scheduled Tribes numbered 2,602.[4]
As per 2001 census, Raghunathganj I block has a total population of 154,349, out of which 77,727 were males and 76,622 were females. Transportation
The Barharwa-Azimganj-Katwa loop line was constructed in 1913. This line passes through this block. There are stations at Jangipur Road and Gankar.[8]
Healthcare
Raghunathganj I block is one of the areas where ground water is affected by arsenic contamination. The maximum arsenic contamination level found in the Murshidabad district is in the Naoda and Raghunathganj I blocks.[9]
