Rajat Dholakia is an Indian composer[1] known for his work on Firaaq (2008), Mirch Masala (1987) and Holi (1985). He has been credited with introducing Chhattisgarhi music to Bollywood,[2] and won the 1991 National Film Award for best music director.[3]

Career

In 1975, Dholakia began producing music for amateur plays in Hindi, Gujarati and English. Four years later, he was introduced to the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) by friends. Dholakia worked with director Ketan Mehta on Holi,[4] Maya Memsaab and composed music for the 1992 Gujarati film Hu Hunsho Hunshilal.[5] He composed the music for the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) ID project's theme song, "Yehi hai Meri Pehchaan".[2]

He is son of music composer Dilip Dholakia.
