Rex Dee Adams (born 9 March 1940)[1] is an American business executive, and Emeritus Professor and Dean at Duke University, and former Chairman and Non-Executive Director (USA) on the Invesco Board of Directors.[2]

Biography

Adams graduated from Duke University Magna Cum Laude in 1962.[3] He was selected for a Rhodes Scholarship that year, and studied nineteenth-century English history at Merton College, Oxford.[1][3]

After graduation Adams worked for the Mobil Corporation for 31 years from 1965 to 1996, serving as Vice President of Administration from 1988 to 1996.[4] He served as a professor and dean at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business from 1996 to 2001.

Adams previously served as on the Board of Directors of Alleghany Corporation. In 2001, he was elected chairman of the Board of Directors for the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS).[5] Adams also served as a trustee of Duke University.[6]
