S. Maurice Hicks Jr.

Samuel Maurice Hicks Jr. (born 1952) is a United States federal judge of the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana.

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Hicks received a B.A. from Texas Christian University in 1974 and a J.D. from Louisiana State University in 1977. He was a law clerk and staff attorney of the Louisiana Legislative Council from 1975 to 1977. He was in private practice in Shreveport, Louisiana from 1977 to 2003.

On September 12, 2002, Hicks Jr was nominated by President George W. Bush to a seat on the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana vacated by Donald E. Walter. Hicks Jr was confirmed by the United States Senate on May 19, 2003, and received his commission on May 21, 2003.
