Salih Sarıkaya is a Turkish journalist, writer and blogger based in Istanbul. He was editor of Digital assets of Meydan Daily Turkish Newspaper.[1] He also wrote blog for Today's Zaman.[2] He came to the Meydan from the Zaman Media Group where he was the lead social media editor of Zaman Newspaper (Turkey's widest circulating daily) and Media Group. Prior to that he worked as defence and security correspondent formerly.[3] He began his career as a reporter in Istanbul.
Career
He began his career at Zaman Newspaper, Turkey's best selling daily. He worked as defence and security correspondent in time of deep state trials in Turkey. He has specialised in writing about terrorism, defence, financial crimes and drugs. Sarıkaya has covered all the major investigations in Turkey including Coup Plans like Ergenekon(Deep State Organization), Balyoz (Sledgehammer Coup Plan). He has also written about Turkish drug policy and international developments. He also worked as war correspondent in Syria during Syrian Civil War.[4] His works also published in Today's Zaman an English daily in Turkey and Aksiyon Turkish weekly news magazine.[5] He was tried in 33 separate cases because of his writings.[6][7][8] He wrote a book analysing Turkish media; 'Lies, Slanders, Distortions: Neo-28 Feb Coup Putschist's Lie News File Holder’. He knows Turkish (native), English (advanced), German (conversant), Arabic (basic) and Kurdish (basic).
