Indoor football in Salina started in 2012 as the Salina Bombers, an expansion franchise for the Champions Professional Indoor Football League, were announced for the 2013 season. They had a successful first season, going 9-3, good enough for the final seed in the playoffs. In the first round, they defeated the top seed, 10-2 Sioux City Bandits in Sioux City. The Bombers won 29-28 by a last-second missed field goal from Sioux City's kicker. This earned them a spot to play in the Champions Bowl against the winner of the third seed, 10-2 Wichita Wild at the second seed, 10-2 Omaha Beef. Wichita would win that game, 31-25. This pitted the Wild to host the Bombers in championship game. Wichita won 47-34.[1] They next season, they finished 8-4, earning them the 3rd seed, and having to travel to Sioux City, Iowa for the first round again. They were defeated by the Sioux City Bandits 66-37. Salina joined the CIF, a merger between thd CPIFL and the Lone Star Football League, for 2015. They started the season 6-5, before the league ejected them for a "business violation" on May 28.[2] They would cease operations later that month,[3] opening the doors for the Liberty.

Staff

The Liberty will be led on the field by head coach Eric Clayton and assistant coaches John Ludes and Daniel Green. Francis Flax will serve as the General Manager of the franchise.
