Serie A is a professional league competition for football clubs located at the top of the Italian football league system and has been operating for over eighty years since the 1929–30 season.

Lazio won the title on the final day of the season under controversial circumstances. Juventus went on to lose the game 1–0 with a goal from Alessandro Calori while Lazio comfortably beat Reggina 3–0 at home at the Stadio Olimpico.
