Shooting
Charley Leundeu Keunang also went by the names of "Africa," "Cameroon," or "Charley Saturmin Robinet" (a stolen ID). He was ordered by police to come out of his tent in Skid Row after fighting with someone inside the tent. After he allegedly refused the police order, they forcibly dragged him out of the tent. A physical altercation ensued with several police officers, during which one or more officers shot and killed Keunang. At least two videos captured the incident.[3][4][5][6] Keunang was shot six times.
Aftermath
Flowing Keunang's death, a protest was held locally in Los Angeles. The protesters organised using the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter. 14 people were arrested in the course of the protest.[7]
The shooting prompted the LAPD to conduct an investigation. The shooting reportedly was reviewed by the district attorney's office, the Police Commission and its independent inspector general.[8]
